Anger Erupted Over The Poor Condition Of Burari Creek Drain, Local People Demonstrated; Councilor Wrote A Letter To CM

Local people and public representatives protested against the poor condition of Burari Creek drain.

Jagran correspondent, outer Delhi. Local people and public representatives protested on Sunday regarding the poor condition of the creek drain located in Burari area. The protesters said that due to the drains not being cleaned regularly for a long time, filth, waterlogging and mosquito infestation are increasing in the area, due to which there is a danger of dengue, malaria and other infectious diseases.

During the rains, people have to face a lot of problems due to the drain water filling the nearby colonies. Local people said that many accidents have happened in the past due to open and unsafe drains. Many lives have also been lost due to falling into the drain.

From the point of view of public safety, the residents of the area have demanded construction of strong boundary walls around the drains as well as regular cleaning of the drains. At the same time, a demand was also made from the government and related departments to release special budget and funds for comprehensive cleaning of drains, construction of boundary wall and permanent drainage system. Besides, emphasis was laid on making a permanent action plan for regular maintenance and upkeep of the drain.

The protesters have warned that if their demands are not met soon, the local people will be forced to launch a massive mass movement. On this occasion, apart from Municipal Councilor Munesh Devi, Rahul Sharma, various RWAs Sushant Vihar, DCM Colony, Natthupura, Natthu Colony and Swaroop Vihar officials and local people were present in large numbers.
