Jagran correspondent, Patna. Moni Chaudhary, resident of Katira Mohalla of Arrah in Bhojpur district, has brought glory to Bihar at the international level in the field of mountaineering. Moni successfully scaled Africa's highest peak, Mount Kilimanjaro (5,895 metres/19,341 feet) at 7:40 am on January 1, 2026.

The highest point of Kilimanjaro is called Uhuru Peak. He achieved this feat after a difficult and challenging campaign of seven days. During this time they had to face difficult geographical and climatic conditions such as dense rainforests, moorlands, alpine deserts and extremely cold climates.

Moni Choudhary successfully proved that expeditions require high physical stamina, mental toughness and disciplined preparation. Moni Chaudhary is currently working as a manager in Bihar Gramin Bank.

Have conquered many difficult missions before too

Moni Choudhary has successfully completed many important mountaineering and trekking expeditions before. He scaled Mount Yonam in Himachal Pradesh on 15 August 2024. Completed Annapurna Base Camp expedition of Nepal in April 2025.

Did basic mountaineering course from Manali in June 2023. He told that he has been fond of traveling and mountains since childhood. His first visit was to Tunganath Shiva temple, which inspired him to move ahead.

Moni Choudhary told that earlier she used to go on mountaineering expeditions during her holidays, bearing her own expenses. This time he got relief from getting leave from the bank, although the expenses incurred in the campaigns still remain challenging. He says that if the government supports such campaigns, they can achieve even higher goals.
