People from Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana and other states often reach the valleys of Nainital to celebrate the New Year. Generally, snowfall is also seen in Nainital during the end of December and beginning of January.
That's why people from many states come here to Nainital. These days, the faces of hoteliers are also happy. Tourists are forced to pay the asking price. But now due to digital technology, tourists coming from outside states book hotels online only.
But the fraudsters hiding in the cyber world create clone websites of the hotels and give attractive offers to attract the tourists by giving 50 to 60 percent discount. There is a need to be careful and cautious about them.
You can detect fake website yourself
Cyber cell in-charge Ganesh Manola says that you can easily detect fake websites. In this you can find the location of the web server. By copying the URL of the website, you can find out where it is being hosted.
You can also find out the website by pasting it on the hosting checker website. If the user sees that the website is hosted in a place where that company does not normally conduct its business, this could be seen as a red flag.
Female tourist was cheated in the name of hotel booking
In January this year itself, a woman resident of Mayur Vihar, Delhi had come to Nainital with her relatives. He made online booking in a hotel in Nainital on the way.
He booked a guest house room in Mallital through a booking site. An advance amount of Rs 5000 was also given for this.
After reaching Nainital, he asked for the GPS location of the hotel on the booking number but the number was switched off. No hotel with that name was found when we inquired in the area where the booking was made.
Two female tourists were cheated in the name of hotel booking
In April this year itself, two female tourists who had come to Nainital from Delhi and Ghaziabad became victims of cyber fraud.
One woman booked online by paying Rs 3,000 and the other woman paid Rs 15,000. When both of them reached the hotel in Nainital, the staff there did not reveal any advance booking in their name. Later the police came to know that the cyber thug had prepared the exact website of that hotel.
