Digital Desk, New Delhi. The Supreme Court on Wednesday came down heavily on a woman lawyer who posted a derogatory post on Facebook targeting another woman who has accused Kerala Congress MLA Rahul Mamkoottathil of rape.
Refusing to hear Deepa Joseph's plea, a bench of Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi said, "Being a woman, what kind of comments have you made about other women... if all this nonsense had been written by a man, we would have got him arrested right here."
Joseph feared arrest by the Kerala Police in connection with this internet media post. But the bench rejected the petition and asked the lawyer to approach the High Court for relief. Justice Surya Kant said, “Are you expected to write this kind of language? you are a lawyer.''
The petitioner lawyer said that he did not write anything derogatory and did not reveal the identity of the victim. “You have not left out even a single word from your dictionary,” the bench said. And yet you don't regret it! “Should we read out in public what you have written?”
