With this engagement, a new family relationship has been formed between the Badal family of Punjab and the royal Dogra family of Jammu and Kashmir, which is also considered important from the political point of view. RK Martand Singh is a lawyer by profession and practices in the Supreme Court and Delhi High Court.
RK Martand Singh's father Vikramaditya Singh has been a former member of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council and is considered the heir of the Dogra royal family.

Riya Badal has graduated in Media, Culture and Communication from New York University. His father Manpreet Singh Badal has been the Finance Minister of Punjab twice. His political journey has been through Shiromani Akali Dal, People's Party of Punjab and Congress till joining BJP in the year 2023.
