Chowk built on the highway in Badaun
Jagran correspondent, Badaun. With the onset of fog the cold increased. Fog has also been increasing continuously since last one week. Visibility on the highway reduced significantly due to increase in fog. In such a situation, the squares built with the statues of great personalities of the country for the purpose of beautification and naming of main intersections on the highway are now becoming the cause of accidents. No arrangements were made by the police administration around this square situated in the middle of the main highway.
Due to this, these squares are not visible in the fog and vehicles are getting damaged after colliding with them. In the last three days, many vehicles have collided and been damaged at Samrat Ashok Chowk, Patel Chowk and other Chowks. But still no one has paid attention to this. Local people have demanded lighting at intersections along with installation of reflectors.
Patel Chowk: Danger increases due to highway construction
These days, widening work is going on on Bareilly Mathura Highway. In this, work has also started on the bypass road in Badaun. Due to which the road has been made one-way. In such a situation, when there is fog, big vehicles do not understand the situation of diversion. Due to which vehicles are either going off the road every day around Patel Chowk. At night, vehicles sometimes collide with the square. No such indicator or reflector was installed here, due to which the drivers could see the square.
Samrat Ashok Chowk: The square is not visible due to its red color
Recently, Samrat Ashok Chowk has been built at ARTO intersection outside the city. The statue of Emperor Ashoka has also been installed by making a big circle here. This square has been painted red. Even though he looks better. But during fog it is not visible due to its bright colour. The work of widening the highway is going on at a fast pace here. NHAI has installed reflectors etc. nearby but not near the intersection. Due to which accidents occurred here on both Sunday and Saturday.
Kalyan Chowk Ujhani: Narrow road, inadequate arrangements
Kalyan Singh Chowk has been built at the main intersection going inside Ujhani Nagar and the bypass. But after the construction of this square the road has become quite narrow. Due to which the possibility of an accident increases when the vehicle is cut off when the vehicle coming at a high speed suddenly sees the intersection. These days there is a possibility of an accident due to fog. There is a strip on the square here. But that is insufficient. He is not visible in the heavy fog. Even the lighting here is not adequate.
Maharana Pratap Chowk Ujhani: A small strip was installed which is not visible.
The second major intersection of Ujhani Nagar is Maharana Pratap Chowk. From this intersection one goes from Ujhani Nagar towards Bilsi Road, Sahaswan Delhi Highway and Kachla and Badaun. Being the main square of the city, there is traffic here day and night. A few days ago, the statue of Maharana Pratap was installed here.
This square built in the middle of the highway can also become the cause of an accident during fog. Lakhs of rupees were spent. But if a vehicle collides during fog, there is every possibility of damage. Only one strip of reflector has been installed here, which is not visible in fog. If reflectors are installed along with barricading, the possibility of accidents will be reduced.
In view of the fog, barricading has been asked at all sensitive places. The squares built on the highway outside the city are also prominent. For these also, instructions are being given to the concerned officers and traffic police for barricading and installing reflectors. Soon all the places will be secured. So that accidents can be prevented from happening in fog.
