Bar Association Kanpur Election Result: Yogendra Awasthi 'Lallan' Wins In The Last Round, Binay Mishra Becomes General Secretary.

Jagran correspondent, Kanpur. There was a close contest for the President and the General Secretary in the Bar Association elections. In the last phase of counting for the post of President, Yogendra Kumar Awasthi 'Lallan' defeated Dinesh Kumar Shukla by 62 votes. For General Secretary, Binay Kumar Mishra remained in the lead from the beginning till the end. He won by defeating Sushil Kumar Singh by 82 votes. Counting of candidates for Senior Vice President, Minister and Joint Minister Administration will begin from 10:30 am on Thursday.

The counting of votes started one hour late from the scheduled time of 10 am on Wednesday morning in Ram Avtar Mahana Hall on the upper floor of the Bar Association office. Retired military personnel engaged in counting of votes opened the sealed ballot boxes in front of the candidates or their authorized representatives. The ballot papers were separated only in the presence of the candidates. This work continued till around four in the evening. After this the counting of votes started. Separate benches were set up for counting the votes for the post of President and General Secretary.

The first result for the post of General Secretary was declared at around quarter to nine. Binay Kumar Mishra was declared the winner. As soon as he was declared victorious, his supporters started shouting slogans outside the court. When the police brought him out of the counting venue under security, his supporters showered him with flowers and garlands. Fireworks started going off. He was taken home under police protection. About half an hour later, Yogendra Kumar Awasthi 'Lallan' was declared the winner for the post of president.

Supporters shouted slogans and set off fireworks. After this, he was also taken home under police protection. Chairman of the Elders Committee, Umashankar Gupta said that all the candidates for both the posts cooperated fully in the counting of votes. That is why counting of votes continued in a peaceful manner. Under the direction of Subedar Major KK Singh, convener of the Indian Ex-Servicemen Association, 25 retired military personnel counted the votes.

Will work in the interest of advocates. No advocate will be harassed during my tenure. Work will be done together with bar and bench. Building a chamber for young advocates is a priority. By increasing the funds of the Bar Association, financial help will be provided to the advocates in case they fall seriously ill.
