The accident occurred early Tuesday when a group of skiers were at Castle Peak. Due to the sudden avalanche, the entire group got caught in it. During the initial relief and rescue operations, six skiers were evacuated safely, out of which two were admitted to the hospital in critical condition. However, the lives of eight of the other nine missing could not be saved.

The rescue operation is facing a lot of challenges due to heavy snowfall and adverse weather in the area. Authorities have warned locals and tourists to stay away from high mountain areas and avalanche-prone areas.
