Jagran correspondent, Badaun. The construction of the Mudha concrete bridge, which was washed away in the flood of 2023, was stuck for the last three years. The funds for its construction have finally been approved. This bridge connecting Dataganj of the district to Faridpur of Bareilly will be built at a cost of Rs 104 crore. After approval from the government, it has been decided that the bridge will be constructed by the Setu Nigam while the approach road will be constructed by PWD. Land will also be acquired for the approach road.
Preparations are underway to start the work before Holi. It is expected that the budget for the construction of this bridge will be received this week. On November 24, 2024, three youths traveling in a car had died after it fell from an incomplete concrete bridge on Ramganga river in Dataganj area of the district. This bridge was lying incomplete for about two years. The youth in the car had climbed the bridge after seeing the location from Google Map, which led to the accident.
Since then the demand for construction of this bridge started increasing rapidly. Dataganj MLA Rajiv Kumar Singh was continuously making efforts for this. On January 31, he had informed that approval of Rs 104 has been received for the bridge. It was due to his efforts that the work of model study which was stalled for almost two years was also completed.
While doing the model study here, the team of IIT Roorkee had suggested increasing the length of the bridge by 200 meters and building a 400 meter approach road and about four kilometers of additional approach road. He had submitted his report to the PWD officials. After this, a proposal for this was again sent to the government. In which a demand of Rs 155 crore was made for the construction of the bridge.
It is said that the construction of this bridge was approved for Rs 104 crore, since then the local people are waiting for the construction of the bridge to start. Congress District President Ajit Yadav was protesting for the construction of this bridge. On which he was detained by the local police. However he was later released.
It was assured that the work on the bridge would start soon. Local PWD officials have inspected this matter. The work of the bridge will be started soon. It is said that the Rs 104 crore that has been approved for the construction of the bridge is likely to be received this week. After this the work of the bridge will be started.
