Barber arrested for playing 'anti-national' songs.
Digital Desk, New Delhi. A barber in Maharashtra's Palghar district has been arrested for allegedly playing anti-national and inflammatory songs related to Kashmir in his shop. This action has been taken by Mira-Bhayander Vasai-Virar (MBVV) police.
According to the police, the accused has been identified as 25-year-old Abdul Rehman Shah. He is originally a resident of Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh and was running a salon in Naigaon area for the last several years.
According to the complaint of local residents, the accused used to regularly play objectionable and provocative songs in his shop. Police officials said that he had been warned in this regard earlier also, but despite this he continued the activity.
Following the complaints, police detained Shah from Chinchoti area of Vasai taluka. A case has been registered against him under section 197(1)(d) of the Indian Code of Justice (BNS), which deals with publication or dissemination of false or misleading material prejudicial to the sovereignty, integrity and security of the country.
