Bathinda Police Freezes Property Worth Rs 3 Crore Made From Drug Smuggling, Seizes Luxury Cars Including Mercedes Of The Accused

Jagran correspondent, Bathinda. As part of the campaign being run with the aim of making Punjab a drug-free state, the police in Bathinda have taken a major action and frozen property worth about Rs 3 crore collected through smuggling. District Police said that in recent times, several joint teams have been formed to crack down on drug smuggling, which are continuously conducting search operations at the hideouts of suspicious persons.

According to DSP (NDPS) Gurpreet Singh, the police station Kotwali had registered a case against drug smuggler Lakhvir Singh alias Lakha, resident of street number 11, Patel Nagar, Malot, case number 132, dated 8 July 2025, under section 21C/61/85 NDPS Act. In this case, the police had recovered 40 kg of heroin from him. After this, the cases were sent to the competent authority, Delhi, to confiscate his movable and immovable properties.

Cars worth 48 lakhs frozen

On receiving the order, assets worth Rs 2 crore 49 lakh 81 thousand were frozen in the first phase. At the same time, on Thursday, two expensive vehicles of the accused – a Mercedes car and a jeep, whose total value is around Rs 48 lakh 50 thousand, were also frozen.

Bathinda Police said that in the year 2025, a total of 24 cases of NDPS Act were sent from the district to the competent authority Delhi, out of which 23 cases have been confirmed. This is being considered a big achievement by the Punjab Police in breaking the economic back of drug smugglers.

Orders to share information about drug smugglers

The District Police Chief has appealed to the people that if drugs are being sold in any area or if any person is addicted to drugs, then give information about it through WhatsApp or phone call on the helpline number 75080-09080 of the control room. He assured that the name and address of the person giving information will be kept completely confidential.
