Jagran correspondent, Bhagalpur. The increasing incidents of bike-borne snatchers in the city have created an atmosphere of panic among the people, especially women and the elderly. Incidents of mobile, purse and chain snatching in broad daylight are continuously coming to light. Three incidents of mobile snatching in the last three days have raised questions on the police patrolling system.
Uchakkas usually come by bike. The driver starts the vehicle, while the criminal sitting behind pounces on a woman or an elderly person walking on the road and runs away within a few seconds. In such cases, the victim has less chance of resistance, which the criminals take advantage of.
Some major incidents of mobile, chain and purse snatching
On receiving a complaint, the police reaches the spot and investigates the surrounding CCTV footage, but in most of the cases the criminals remain undetected. However, SSP Pramod Kumar Yadav has directed all the police station heads to intensify regular patrolling, vehicle checking operations and search of suspects in their respective areas.
