Captains did not shake hands in IND vs PAK match, but there was no heated argument
Abhishek Tripathi, Jagran Delhi. India vs Pakistan: In the Asia Cup held in Dubai last year, there were fierce altercations inside and outside the field in the matches between India and Pakistan, but nothing like this was seen at the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. It is not that there was any dearth of controversies before this match of the T-20 World Cup, but there was no dispute between the players on the field.
In the Asia Cup held after Operation Sindoor, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav did not shake hands with Pakistani captain Salman Aga during the toss. Not only this, after the victory, the Indian team did not shake hands with the Pakistani team. Same thing happened here also. Neither any BCCI official nor ICC Chairman Jay Shah had gone there to watch the match between India and Pakistan in the Asia Cup, but everyone was present here.
ICC brand ambassador Rohit Sharma, ICC chairman Jay Shah and BCCI officials reached Colombo by special charter from Ahmedabad. All of them reached Premadasa Stadium together in a convoy. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi was in the VIP box on the left, while ICC and BCCI officials were in the VIP box on the right. There was neither any talk nor any meeting between these people.
Following the instructions of BCCI, Kolkata Knight Riders had canceled the contract of Bangladeshi player Mustafizur Rahman. After which Bangladesh refused to play T-20 World Cup in India citing security reasons. The ICC headed by Jay Shah refused to shift its matches to Sri Lanka and included Scotland as the 20th team. Pretending to support Bangladesh, Pakistan first boycotted the match against India and later agreed to play the match.
Despite so much controversy, Pakistani and Indian players showed restraint on the field. However, in this match, Zimbabwe's neutral commentator Pami Bangwa came to conduct the toss in place of India's Ravi Shastri. Pakistan's Waqar Younis had gone to conduct the toss with Ravi Shastri in the Asia Cup final. Shastri had talked to the Indian captain and Younis had talked to the Pakistani captain.
There was chaos in Asia Cup
In the Asia Cup, PCB had made two complaints against Surya Kumar Yadav to ICC. The Indian team had demanded strict action from match referee Andy Pycroft regarding the provocative and indecent actions of Sahibzada Farhan and Haris Rauf. Surya and Rauf were also fined. In the Asia Cup, Farhan did 'gun celebration' with the bat after scoring a half-century, while Haris Rauf showed aggression after taking the wicket of Sanju Samson.
Not only this, he also clashed with Abhishek Sharma and Shubhman Gill. There was a lot of abuse on the field between the two teams in the Asia Cup. Not only this, in that tournament the PCB had demanded the removal of match referee Andy Pycroft from a match. That match between Pakistan and UAE started with a delay of about an hour.
