Delhi Police issued advisory regarding the Beating Retreat ceremony.

Jagran correspondent, New Delhi. The Beating Retreat Ceremony to mark the conclusion of the Republic Day Celebrations, 2026 will be held at Vijay Chowk on Thursday. Keeping in view the possibility of a large number of people arriving to see the attractive lighting of Rashtrapati Bhavan, North Block, South Block and Parliament House on this occasion, Delhi Traffic Police has announced detailed traffic arrangements and restrictions. These restrictions will be in force on Thursday from 2 pm to 9:30 pm.

According to the traffic police, Vijay Chowk will be completely closed for general traffic. Apart from this, there will be a ban on vehicular movement on many major routes. These include Rafi Marg between Sunehari Masjid and Krishi Bhawan, Raisina Road (from Krishi Bhawan towards Vijay Chowk), Dara Shikoh Road, Krishna Menon Marg and the stretch from Sunehari Masjid towards Vijay Chowk. Also, traffic will not be allowed on the duty lane between Vijay Chowk and 'C' Hexagon.

The general public and motorists have been advised to use alternative routes during this period. The traffic police has appealed to adopt routes like Ring Road, Ridge Road, Aurobindo Marg, Madrasa T-Point, Safdarjung Road-Kamal Ataturk Marg, Rani Jhansi Road and Minto Road, so that the jam situation can be avoided.

There will be changes in bus services also

Major changes have also been made to bus services during the Beating Retreat ceremony. DTC and other city buses will be diverted from their normal routes from 2 pm to 9:30 pm. Many buses going to Central Secretariat and Connaught Place will run via Panchsheel Marg, Simon Bolivar Marg, Vande Mataram Marg and Shankar Road. Central Secretariat-bound buses will terminate at Udyan Marg, while Connaught Place-bound buses will run via Mandir Marg, Kali Bari Marg and Baba Kharak Singh Marg.

Separate alternative routes have also been fixed for buses going towards South Delhi, Mandi House, Feroze Shah Road, Shahjahan Road, Ashram, Vikas Marg and Old Delhi Railway Station, Red Fort and ISBT Kashmiri Gate, so that the traffic pressure around the venue and India Gate can be reduced.

At the same time, parking arrangements have also been made for the people who come to see the lighting after the ceremony. Parking of vehicles will be allowed at Vijay Chowk between Rafi Marg and ‘C’ Hexagon after 7 pm.
