State Bureau, Jagran, Kolkata. A Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) student was arrested for theft of gold jewelery worth more than Rs 2 crore and cash worth Rs 26.5 lakh from a flat in Sarsuna area of ​​Kolkata. Police gave this information on Wednesday.

Police said the 20-year-old BCA student had hatched the conspiracy of theft after watching crime-related stories on an OTT platform.

The student, nicknamed Tukli, was expelled from the school for cheating in Class 11, a senior official said.

After passing out from another school, due to his father's efforts, he got admission in college, but he had no interest in studies. He targeted the flat of one of his girlfriend's friends because he already knew that a lot of cash and gold jewelery was kept there.

Fake key made by making marks on soap

He made a fake key by making a mark of the flat key on soap. After this, he bought an electric saw and a money counting machine online so that he could carry out the theft with accuracy.

He used a saw to cut the locker from the back and took out 1.2 kg of gold jewelery and Rs 26.5 lakh in cash.

He counted the money inside the flat with the help of a machine and then filled it in a bag and went away with the loot.

The stolen items were later recovered from his girlfriend's friend's flat during a raid by police.

Another police officer said that he could be arrested on the basis of CCTV footage and mobile tracking.

A senior official said he was always attracted by the easy way to become rich and dreamed of a luxurious lifestyle without studying. The investigating officer said that the arrested accused is being interrogated to gather more information about the crime.
