Tragic Accident In Unnao: Truck Crushes Couple And Two Children On Kanpur-Lucknow Highway, All Four Die

Jagran correspondent, Unnao. While trying to overtake on the Kanpur-Lucknow highway on Wednesday night, a truck first hit a trailer and then crushed a bike-riding couple and two children. All four died on the spot. Only a 12 year old daughter is left in the family.

There was a jam on the highway for about an hour due to the overturning of the trailer. Police removed the damaged vehicles and normalized traffic. The marriage of 35-year-old Virendra, resident of Ajgain town, with his 32-year-old wife Ritu's maternal uncle's daughter was held on Wednesday. Virendra along with his wife Ritu, nine-year-old daughter Anuradha, six-year-old son Rudra and 12-year-old daughter Nancy reached Dayalkheda village in Banthra area of ​​Lucknow in the evening to attend the program.

After having dinner and eating Jaimal, Virendra left for home on a bike with his wife Ritu, daughter Anuradha and son Rudra at around 11 pm. On the second bike, her brother-in-law Ranjit, a resident of Jalimkheda, Ajgain, followed with his daughter Nancy. Standing near Bhalla Farm on the Kanpur-Lucknow highway, Virendra started waiting for Ranjit.

Meanwhile, a speeding truck going from Lucknow towards Kanpur, while trying to overtake the trailer, hit Virendra's bike hard. Virendra, his wife Reetu, daughter Anuradha and son Rudra died on the spot. Only Nancy was saved as she was in the other bike with the brother-in-law.

There was a traffic jam when the trailer overturned due to the collision with the truck. Sohramau police station arrived after 20 minutes, removed the bodies and sent them for post-mortem. With the help of a crane, the overturned trailer was straightened and traffic was normalized. SO Sohramau Arvind Pandey said that the truck that collided was of Kanpur registration number. He has been captured. The driver is being searched.
