The story of Border is based on the 1971 war between India and Pakistan in Longewala, Rajasthan. Where 55 years ago, Pakistan had silently attacked the Indian Army present in Longewala with 2 to 3 thousand soldiers at midnight. When 2 to 3 thousand soldiers of Pakistan entered India with their 40 tanks, there were only 120 Indian soldiers in Longewala. Major Kuldeep Singh Chandpuri of the 23rd battalion of the Punjab Regiment was leading them in Longewala at that time.

However, the Army approached the Air Force for help in this war against Pakistan, but the 'Hawker Hunter' aircraft used at that time could not fly at night, so they waited till morning. Due to which the 120 army soldiers present at the Longewala border fought courageously against Pakistan throughout the night and in the morning, with the support of the Air Force, they drove away the Pakistani soldiers. Many of our soldiers were martyred in this battle.

While the film Border was based on the Battle of Longewala, Sunny Deol's Border 2 is about Pakistan's Operation 'Genghis Khan', which started the India-Pakistan war in 1971.
What was Operation Genghis Khan?
On December 3, 1971, Pakistan started this operation in the name of 'Genghis Khan', the objective of which was to weaken our air force and control the skies. Under this operation, Pakistan suddenly attacked many Indian airports and radar stations. In this attack, a total of 11 Indian positions including Amritsar, Pathankot, Ambala and Jodhpur were targeted.
