Bhagalpur: Violation Of NGT Rules? Workers Seen Dropping Construction Material In Ganga In Viral Video

Video of dust particles falling from steamer into Ganga during the construction work of parallel bridge in river Ganga near Barari bridge of Bhagalpur goes viral.

Jagran correspondent, Bhagalpur. A video of dust particles falling from a steamer into the Ganga during the ongoing parallel bridge construction work in the Ganga river near Barari bridge in Bhagalpur is going viral. Which is a clear violation of NGT rules. It is being said in the viral video that this happens every day, but till now no action is being taken on it.

Actually this area is part of Vikramshila Gangetic Dolphin Sanctuary Reserve area. If this happens continuously, the ecosystem of the reserve area can deteriorate and it can prove dangerous for the aquatic life including the dolphins living in it. The official of SP Singla Company, which is constructing the bridge, claims that it was not construction material.

An official said that the mixer machine and construction material for the construction of pillars of the parallel bridge were being transported across the river through a steamer. This work has been given to a private agency. This included the dust that gets accumulated in the tires of vehicles. The same has been accidentally cleaned in the river. Which will not be done in future.

After the video went viral, the Forest Department team also reached the construction site on Thursday. The Forest Department immediately warned the site in-charge and said that if it happens again, strict action will be taken. Forest department officials said that now patrolling of this area will be done daily.

National Green Tribunal's strict rules on pollution in dolphin sanctuary

As per the guidelines, the construction agency is not to throw anything into the Ganga river. If she does this then action will be taken. After receiving the video, the team went to the construction site. The site in-charge has been given a final warning. If such information is received again then action will be taken against the company.

It is illegal to do such arbitrariness in the reserve sanctuary area. This is a dolphin sanctuary area. Any kind of dust particle or construction material falling into the river Ganga affects the entire ecosystem of aquatic life living in the river. In fact, after any kind of dust particles enter the water, the water becomes turbid, which affects the process of photosynthesis. The food chain of these aquatic organisms gets disturbed. It should be completely monitored. Also, the Forest Department needs to take action on this.
