Jagran correspondent, Chandigarh. A big inter-state gang involved in counterfeit Indian currency was busted by Chandigarh Police. Now the police has prepared for the case against the accused. The crime branch has filed a charge sheet in the district court against six criminals in this case. The hearing on which will start from January 6, 2026.

Gaurav Kumar, Vikram Meena alias Vicky, Jitendra Sharma, Jaswinder Singh, Som Dutt and Shiva Gupta were arrested three months ago and fake currency worth Rs 24.27 lakh was recovered from them. Apart from fake notes, the police had recovered printing machines, vehicles and other objectionable material from them. Police had found this network spread in many states of the country.

Police investigation revealed that the accused were printing fake notes of Rs 500 and Rs 100 and supplying them in different states of the country. This gang used to lure customers through internet media platforms like Facebook, Instagram and Telegram.

Fake notes were supplied in the ratio of 1:3, that is, fake notes of Rs 3 lakh were given instead of genuine amount of Rs 1 lakh. During investigation, the police also found that the accused used to try to sell fake notes in the market by mixing them in bundles of genuine notes, so that identification could be avoided.

Investigation into other people involved in the gang continues

At present the police is investigating this matter and efforts are being made to trace other people associated with this gang. Further investigation is underway to link other gang members and supply chain links. Police is finding out which states this gang was connected to. Police can also make more people accused in this.
