Pawan Kumar Mishra, Patna. Amid claims of effectively implementing complete prohibition in the state, serious negligence has come to light in the capital. In the review meeting of DM and SSP on prohibition, it was revealed that from April 1, 2016 to December 14, 2025, two lakh four thousand 324.058 liters of liquor seized in the district has not been destroyed.

Meanwhile, excise, police and GRP had seized a total of 31,29,925.329 liters of liquor and till December 14, only 29,25,601.271 liters of liquor had been destroyed. The police department is lagging behind in destroying liquor. One lakh 69 thousand 134 liters of liquor is kept in various police stations, which has not been destroyed till now. The product department is also not behind in negligence.

The condition of the excise department is such that till now the proposal to destroy 10 thousand 90 liters of illicit liquor has not been sent to the DM. Despite receiving orders for destruction of 2100.580 liters of liquor, it has not been destroyed till now.

According to the report, the quantity of liquor which is not destroyed despite sending the proposal, pending orders and orders, is kept in police and excise stations listed in different categories.

Considering this as a serious administrative lapse, the DM and SSP reprimanded the concerned officials and directed them not to be negligent in carrying out regular raids, arrests and seizures along with destruction. For this, accountability has been fixed at every level.

Maximum liquor excise pending in Patna Sadar police station

According to statistics, the biggest case of liquor not being destroyed even after receiving the destruction order is related to the excise police station, Patna Sadar. There is 1,936.500 liters of such liquor here, the DM has ordered to destroy it. After this, 164.080 liters of liquor in Danapur police station is in this category.

Patna Sadar is also ahead among those who did not send the proposal to destroy liquor. The proposal for destruction of 7,926.890 liters of liquor has not been sent yet.

At the same time, Excise Police Station Danapur has not sent the proposal to DM to destroy 1,228.490 liters of liquor, Excise Police Station Paliganj 160.000 liters, Excise Police Station Barh 493.115 liters, Excise Police Station Masaurhi has not sent 282 liters of liquor to the DM.

DM-SSP said- action decided on delay

DM and SSP said that as soon as the proposal for destruction of liquor is received, the order is being passed within the stipulated time. In such a situation, delay at the field level will not be acceptable under any circumstances. All SDOs-SDPOs have been instructed to complete the process of destruction by deputing police station wise magistrates and police officers.

DM-SSP said that confiscation of vehicles, destruction of liquor and pending cases will be reviewed regularly. Execution and action of confiscation cases will be mandatory on priority basis.
