Jagran correspondent, Bhubaneswar. The much awaited Capital Region Ring Road project of Odisha is now progressing rapidly towards getting off the ground.
The tender for three major packages of the project under Hybrid Annuity Mode has been finalized. Along with this, three construction companies have also been selected.
This six-lane ring road, about 110 km long, will connect Khordha Rameshwar-Bilipara and Govindpur-Cuttack Tangi. This project will reduce traffic pressure in the capital region and strengthen connectivity around Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
Rs 1,500 crore spent on each phase
Each phase of the project will cost approximately Rs 1,500 crore. The work is likely to start by March next year.
Overall, Rs 8,300 crore is being invested in this ambitious project by the Government of India. NHAI Regional Officer Virendra Singh said that this amount includes land acquisition, utility shifting, forest clearances, financial provisions, GST and other necessary expenses. He said that L-1 bidders have been identified for all three packages.
90 percent land transfer process completed
According to Virendra Singh, each package is of about 40 kilometers and almost all the conditions have been fulfilled. He said that the process of handing over 90 percent land is going on, which has cleared the way for starting the construction work.
Approval also received from Environment Ministry
Financial bids for all three packages have already been opened. Recently the project has also received necessary approval from the Union Ministry of Forest and Environment. With this, major obstacles in the construction of Capital Region Ring Road have been removed.
