Sector-17 police station has arrested the clerk and peon.

Jagran correspondent, Chandigarh. The police have arrested a clerk and a peon in connection with tampering of property related files in the estate office of Sector-17. Both are accused of tampering with official documents. Sector-17 police station has registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) on the complaint of SDM Central Naveen. This case pertains to a property located in Sector-42-B.

During investigation, it was found that some pages of the original file related to lien on the property were not matching with the scanned copies. When both the files were matched, it was discovered that the original documents had been interfered with and deleted from the original file. Considering the seriousness of the matter, the competent authority ordered a preliminary inquiry, which was handed over to Assistant Estate Officer Naveen.

The investigating officer submitted his report on 5 December. During the investigation, CCTV footage of 24 and 25 September 2025 was scrutinized, in which some documents were found changed and some missing from the file. In the footage, accused clerk Lalit Mohan and peon Lalit were seen going through files in the office late at night without any valid permission.
