Many consumers in rural areas have not been receiving electricity bills for months. Due to non-payment of bills, the financial burden on consumers is increasing and surcharges are continuously being added.

Consumers say that complaints have been made to the authorities several times in this regard, but no concrete action has been taken till now. The entire matter is said to be related to the electricity sub-station Lotan, where consumers are forced to make rounds to get the bills cleared. The reader did not reach to collect the bill. He complained to the authorities several times, but the problem was not resolved. As a result, surcharge on the bill is increasing.

Rudal Yadav of Lotan town told that smart meter was installed in his house also four months ago. After installation of the meter, neither any message came on the mobile nor any bill was received. Even after four months the meter reader has not arrived, due to which the financial burden is increasing. He has also complained to the District Magistrate in this regard.

Another consumer said that due to bills not being generated on time, not only the dues are increasing, but surcharges are also being added continuously. Despite complaining to the department, no hearing was held, due to which consumers are upset.
