State Bureau, Jammu. On the very first day of the new year, the state Bharatiya Janata Party attacked the National Conference led government over unfulfilled promises. Leader of Opposition in Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, Sunil Sharma, on Thursday sought an account of the unfulfilled promises of the National Conference and said that the Omar government has done nothing except institutionalizing nepotism and betraying the aspirations of the unemployed youth of Jammu and Kashmir.
Sharma said that despite big promises made during the elections, the Omar Abdullah-led government has failed to create employment opportunities for the qualified youth. Instead of providing them employment, this government re-employed retired officers through questionable administrative decisions.
The BJP leader alleged that a recently re-appointed retired officer is allegedly a close relative of a senior leader. She was brought back into service through orders issued by the General Administration Department. Earlier also a retired officer was similarly accommodated in the Tourism Department.
Terming such actions as anti-youth, the opposition leader said that the NC government has badly weakened the public trust. He has made a joke of his promise of providing one lakh jobs to the youth. He said that bringing back relatives and loved ones from Bhatizabad is a betrayal of public trust. The government should immediately end such unethical and corrupt practices.
Sunil Sharma said what happened to the promise of giving 200 free electricity units in the last budget session. He said that even under the Surya Urja Free Electricity Scheme, about eight lakh registered families in Jammu and Kashmir are still waiting for electricity. This government is running on the basis of false assurances and repeated failures.-----------------Vivek Singh
