BJP's protest on the charge of rejecting Form 7

Jagran Correspondent, Asansol: On Wednesday, the District BJP staged a protest at Ghari Mod in the Asansol Court complex in protest against the alleged unjust rejection of Form 7 by the Returning Officer. Many senior party leaders and workers along with the district BJP leadership participated in the demonstration. District BJP President Debtanu Bhattacharya, who was present at the protest, alleged that the Election Commission had given time till Tuesday to lodge a complaint regarding the discrepancy in names, under which Form 7 had to be filled and submitted. But when BJP's booth level agent reached the returning officer with Form 7, it was not accepted. Debtanu Bhattacharya said that this makes it clear that Trinamool Congress deliberately wants to keep the names of ineligible people in the voter list, so that the elections can be won with their help. He alleged that at the behest of TMC, the ERO is rejecting Form 7 in a manner which does not fall within the jurisdiction of an Election Commission official. BJP leaders also claimed that the process of Special Intensive Review (SIR) is going on smoothly across the country and there is no problem anywhere, but in West Bengal TMC is deliberately creating hurdles in the process. During the protest, BJP workers demanded impartial action from the Election Commission and warned that if their demands were not heeded, the agitation would be further intensified.
