Boy carrying grandmother's ashes hit by dumper, dies

Samvad Sutra, Jagran. Sarsawa (Saharanpur): An 11-year-old boy, who was going to Haridwar along with his father with his grandmother's ashes, was hit by a dumper on the Yamuna river bridge. The seriously injured child was admitted to the Medical College Hospital, where he died during treatment. Police have recovered the dumper, while the driver is absconding. A complaint has been filed in the matter on behalf of the relatives.

Kapil, a resident of Walwach Colony, Mohalla, Palampur, Himachal Pradesh, was going to Haridwar with his mother's ashes along with his family at around 4.30 pm on Sunday evening. When they reached Yamuna bridge from Haryana to UP border, they stopped the car. Meanwhile, his 11 year old son Arnav stood on the side of the road. Then a dumper full of mining coming from behind hit him. After the accident, the child became unconscious and fell on the road, due to which there was an outcry among the family members. On receiving the information, Shahjahanpur outpost police of Sarsawa police station took the child to the medical college in a government vehicle, where he died during treatment. Police took possession of the dumper and sent the body for post-mortem. Police Station Head Pravesh Sharma said that the vehicle has been seized and legal action is being taken after identifying the absconding driver.
