Jagran correspondent, Kapurthala. A team of Punjab Vigilance Bureau has arrested Naib Court Officer Rajinder Singh, posted in the court of Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Kapurthala, red handed while taking bribe. The accused had asked for money from a laborer in exchange for dismissal of his case.

A spokesperson of Punjab Vigilance Bureau said that this action was taken on the basis of the complaint of a person resident of Nakodar (Jalandhar). The complainant, a laborer by profession, said that he and his friend Joban were arrested by the police under Section 128 of the BNS and produced in the court of SDM Kapurthala.

After the complainant got bail, the next hearing of the case was fixed for February 18, 2026. It is alleged that Naib Court Officer Rajinder Singh posted in the court was repeatedly harassing the complainant for bribe.

According to the information, the accused was demanding Rs 50 thousand from the complainant. The complainant handed over its recording to the Vigilance Department, after which the team laid a trap on Wednesday afternoon and caught the Naib Court Officer red handed while taking a bribe of Rs 10,000. SDM Kapurthala Dr. Irwin Kaur said that she was not present in the office today, but she has received information that some action has been taken by Vigilance.
