Brilliant Performance By Young Players, Jammu And Kashmir Won For The First Time In BCCI Trophy

Jammu and Kashmir's Under-16 cricket team won all six matches by an innings margin.

The young players of Jammu and Kashmir won the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Trophy for the first time and, breaking the record, today created a new history by winning the Vijay Merchant Trophy Plate Group title for the first time by defeating Mizoram by an innings and 182 runs in the decisive match of Under 16 Vijay Merchant Trophy Plate at the Lalbhai Contractor Stadium in Surat.

Jammu and Kashmir team created history by winning all six matches of the four-day Vijay Merchant Trophy by an innings margin and proved its unmatched superiority. Captain Samgya Khajuria scored a brilliant 102 runs, Arthav Sharma contributed 92 not out and Adnan Manzoor scored a stormy 74 runs.

Jammu and Kashmir bowlers Sanil Singh and Jaskaran Singh played an important role in this historic victory by destroying the opposition team's batting with their sharp bowling.

On Tuesday morning, Mizoram team started batting ahead of 118 runs at the loss of eight wickets in 38 overs of the second innings and the last two batsmen were returned to the pavilion without adding any runs on the scoreboard. The entire Mizoram team collapsed for 118 runs in 42.4 overs and with this, the Jammu and Kashmir team captured the title by registering a spectacular victory against Mizoram by an innings and 182 runs.

For Jammu and Kashmir, left arm spin bowler Sanil Singh took three wickets, Hammad Firdous and fast bowler Jaskaran Singh took two wickets each, Rajveer Singh and Karman Singh took one wicket each.

Earlier, on the first day of the four-day Vijay Merchant Trophy Plate, the entire Mizoram team was bundled out for 100 runs in 43 overs. In reply, Jammu and Kashmir team scored 400 runs in 95.1 overs in the first innings and took a lead of 300 runs against Mizoram. In reply, the Mizoram team lost its last two wickets and collapsed to 118 runs in just 40 minutes of play on Tuesday morning.

Jammu and Kashmir captain Samgya completed his century by scoring 102 runs in 174 balls with the help of 15 fours and one six. Atharva Sharma remained unbeaten after scoring 92 runs in 137 balls with the help of 17 fours and one six. Wicketkeeper Adnan Manzoor contributed 74 runs.

Emerging left-arm spinner Sanil Singh and fast bowler Jaskaran Singh led the attack with 3 wickets each. Rajveer Singh and Hamad Firdous contributed by taking one wicket each.
