Bumper Win In Thane But Eknath Shinde Lost At Home, Who Became Sikandar?

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena has emerged as the single largest party in Thane Municipal Corporation, although it lost a key seat in Ward 13 to the anti-Thackeray faction. In Ward 13A, where Eknath Shinde's house is located, voters have elected the Shiv Sena UBT candidate over the former mayor of Shinde's party.

Shahaji Khuspe of the Uddhan faction defeated Ashok Vaiti by more than 600 votes in one of the four sub-wards. Khuspe got 12,860 votes, while Vaiti got just 12,193 votes, giving Shiv Sena UBT its only seat in Thane.

The remaining three seats of the ward – 13B, 13C and 13D, have been won by Shinde's party. Nirmala Kanse, Varsha Shelar and Anil Bhor are the winning candidates from this sub-ward. Thane Corporation elects a total of 165 corporators from 41 wards, with each ward represented by a corporator.

In the elections held on Thursday, Shinde-led Shiv Sena won 75 seats, while ally BJP won 28 seats. NCP (Sharad Pawar) got 12 seats and NCP got 9 seats.
