Illegal recovery in the name of mobile linking
Samvad Sutra, Manjha (Gopalganj). A case of illegal extortion in the name of linking Aadhaar with mobile number has come to light in the Aadhaar center operated in Manjha block office premises. Local people allege that a government fee board of Rs 150 has been put up at the Aadhaar centre, while Rs 300 is being charged from the beneficiaries. There is widespread resentment among common citizens due to this.
On Saturday, Subhavati Devi, Ramavati Devi of Jagarnatha village of the block, Geeta Devi of Manjha East, Jharia Devi and Rekha Devi and other women had reached the Aadhaar center located at the block office to link their mobile numbers with Aadhaar.
Recovery of Rs 300 for linking mobile number
The women allege that Rs 300 each was collected from everyone in the name of linking mobile numbers. Local people say that despite UIDAI setting a limited fee for Aadhaar update and mobile linking, Aadhaar center operators are arbitrarily charging higher amounts.
Under compulsion, people are forced to pay more to update Aadhaar. People have demanded the administration to investigate the matter and take strict action against the guilty Aadhaar center operators.
In this regard, when an attempt was made to contact the Aadhaar center operator on mobile, he refused to tell anything and later switched off the mobile phone.
