State Bureau, Patna. The report of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) presented in the Legislative Assembly has raised serious questions on the functioning and revenue management of many departments. The report presented in four volumes has confirmed irregularities in matters related to rural development.

Questions have been raised about the monitoring mechanism of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G). In 55 cases, examples of geo-tagging of residential places have been found not only in the Gram Panchayat, the district but even outside the state. What's more, out of 961 completed houses, 541 houses were found in which toilets had not been constructed.

At the same time, there were 1635 beneficiaries whose names were different in the Awas Soft Platform and Public Financial Management System (PFMS), but Rs 19.37 crore was paid to them. All the irregularities are from the financial year 2017-18 to 2023-24.

It may be noted that the amount released as central share by the Government of India was transferred to the State Nodal Account (SNA) by the State Government with a delay of 14 to 154 days. Due to this, interest liability of Rs 71.08 crore arose on the state government.

Out of 20 thousand landless beneficiaries, only 34,62 received assistance for purchasing land under the Chief Minister Housing Purchase Assistance Scheme. Whereas only 2935 beneficiaries were sanctioned PMAY.
