IANS, Imphal. Rajendra Kumar, Secretary (Border Management) in the Home Ministry, visited Moreh in Manipur's Tengnoupal district on Saturday and took complete stock of the security situation and infrastructure along the India-Myanmar border.

He stressed on rapid adoption of modern surveillance technologies, especially deployment of drones and advanced sensor systems, to ensure a strong and “smart” border management framework.

A senior official in Imphal said that the visit of Secretary (Border Management) was to review the existing security arrangements and infrastructure projects on the strategically important India-Myanmar border.

During this, Kumar conducted ground inspections of frontline border posts and surveillance installations, interacted with officials concerned to understand the operational challenges and seek feedback to enhance effectiveness in the field.

At a high-level review meeting of Assam Rifles, local administration and different security agencies, Rajendra Kumar stressed the need to improve patrolling and strengthen real-time intelligence sharing.

He praised the dedication of the security forces in a sensitive environment, and reiterated the government's resolve to protect national integrity while promoting legitimate cross-border trade.
