Chandrashekhar Azad was stopped by Ghaziabad police on NH 9.

Jagran correspondent, Ghaziabad. Nagina MP and Azad Samaj Party chief Chandrashekhar Azad, who was going from Delhi to Meerut, has been stopped by Ghaziabad Police on NH 9. To prevent people from going to Meerut, the police have closed the Delhi-bound lane on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway in front of Vedanta Farm House. All the traffic of DME and NH-9 is being sent towards Hapur. This has caused jam on NH-9 and DME.

Police say that Kashi Toll Plaza in Meerut has been closed for vehicles coming from Delhi, hence vehicles from Ghaziabad are not being allowed to go towards Meerut. The case is of murder of a Dalit woman and kidnapping of her daughter in Meerut. Chandrashekhar was going to Meerut to meet the victim's family. Earlier, there was an altercation between Chandrashekhar Azad and the police who reached UP Gate.

Top police officers including DCP Rural, DCP Trans Hindon are at Delhi Meerut Expressway in Bhojpur. Every vehicle is being checked. The queue of vehicles has even crossed Kalchina. Hundreds of vehicles are stuck in the jam. A large number of police forces have been deployed to stop people coming from Delhi to UP.
