State Bureau, Dehradun. This year, QR codes will be installed at major places on the Chardham Yatra route. Scanning these will help the passengers to understand the complete history of the concerned place on their mobile.
Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan has instructed the officials to ensure this arrangement. He also asked to pay special attention to health services, electricity system, disaster management and crowd management during the journey.
The Chief Secretary reviewed the preparations for the Chardham Yatra in a high level meeting held at the Secretariat on Thursday. He said that all departments should work on a time bound action plan to make the journey safe, smooth, dynamic and well organized.
Giving top priority to health services, he directed to make all the hospitals located on Kedarnath and Badrinath road fully functional.
The Energy Department was asked to ensure uninterrupted and balanced voltage power supply. Disaster Management Department and Police Department were instructed to immediately send information about traffic jam, crowd or emergency situations on the yatra route to the passengers through WhatsApp alerts.
He said that in case of postponement of the journey due to emergency circumstances, the responsibility of determining the duration and place will rest with the Garhwal Divisional Commissioner.
He gave instructions for advance deployment of machines, equipment and necessary resources on the travel route and mapping of assets, so that quick utilization can be possible if required.
He asked the Animal Husbandry Department to ensure coordinated arrangements with local bodies for livestock registration, treatment and casualty management.
Emphasis was laid on issuing standard operating procedures for travel operations.
District Magistrates of Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Uttarkashi were instructed to improve the system by increasing coordination with departments and stakeholders at the local level and prepare a practical plan for crowd management.
Principal Secretary RK Sudhanshu, ADG Dr V Murugesan, Secretaries Sachin Kurve, Ranbir Singh, DS Garbyal, BK Sant, Vinod Kumar Suman and Additional Secretary to Chief Minister Banshidhar Tiwari were present in the meeting.
