Mohit Pandey, Jagran Unnao. Now ignoring the vehicle's insurance, pollution, fitness and permit will prove costly during the journey. If these forms are missing or incomplete, such vehicles will be e-challaned at the toll plaza of the expressway. Because, like Uttarakhand and Bihar, work is going on to start the e-detection system at all the toll plazas of the expressways in the state by the end of March. First of all, there are preparations to start it from Agra-Lucknow Expressway. In future, it will be started on tolls of all highways also.

The e-detection system is linked with the central vehicle registration database. It is managed by the National Informatics Center (NIC). As soon as the vehicle reaches the toll plaza, the cameras installed there scan the number plate or Fastag of the vehicle. Then cross check the details with the central vehicle database. In this process, the status of vehicle registration, insurance, fitness, pollution certificate and permit will also be checked.

If any document is found missing or expired, an e-challan will be sent to the mobile number of the concerned vehicle owner. This system is being adopted to strengthen road safety and ensure strict adherence to rules. Till now, many drivers invite accidents by traveling on expressways and highways without valid documents.

With the implementation of the new system, the fitness of the vehicles and other deficiencies will have to be rectified. Unnao's ARTO enforcement Sanjeev Kumar Singh said that the e-detection system is automatic and does not require any human intervention. Only when the vehicle passes through the toll plaza will its complete information be checked in the system and in case of violation of rules, an e-challan will automatically be generated and sent to the mobile phone number of the vehicle owner.

He said that vehicle owners and drivers are also being made aware to keep the forms correct. From Agra to Lucknow, the toll tax for four-wheelers is Rs 665, for mini bus, mini truck and light commercial vehicles is Rs 1045, for bus and truck it is Rs 2100. If the vehicle returns from the toll within 24 hours, then 25 percent rebate in tax is given. Amount of deficiency and challan (in rupees)
