IANS, Agartala. Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Thursday stressed the importance of promoting Hindi along with local languages, saying Hindi plays an important role in national unity.

He said that as part of efforts to strengthen Hindi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has chosen Agartala to host the Official Language Conference of Northern, Eastern and North-Eastern Regions. The event will be held on Friday at the International Indoor Exhibition Center in Hapania. The Home Minister will inaugurate the conference.

The Chief Minister said, we want to unite the entire country by giving priority to Hindi. Saha thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for the initiative to promote linguistic harmony.

He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always been curious about AI. In the coming days, all departments will use Artificial Intelligence (AI), and AI has also been included in the recent budget.

Meanwhile, Anshuli Arya, Secretary, Department of Official Languages, Ministry of Home Affairs, said the states participating in the conference include Bengal, Odisha, Bihar and Jharkhand from the Eastern region, Assam, Tripura, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim from the Northeastern region and Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh from the Northern region.
