Big relief to children of nuclear families
State Bureau, Patna. The Central Government has decided to provide major relief to children from nuclear families or those who have lost their earning parent under the Sponsorship Scheme. Now the amount of assistance given to children under this scheme has been increased to six thousand rupees per month. Earlier this amount was four thousand rupees. The Central Government has approved the proposal to increase the amount.
Important decision taken under child protection
The sponsorship scheme is part of the child protection programme. Its objective is to provide financial assistance to such children who are living in difficult family circumstances.
The government believes that by providing financial support, children will be able to live in a safe environment with their families and their education and upbringing will not be disrupted.
Which children will get the benefit of the scheme
The benefit of this scheme is given to such children below 18 years of age, whose one or both of their parents have passed away. Apart from this, children of parents suffering from serious illness, or children whose family is unable to take care of them, are also eligible for this scheme.
Single families will get special priority
The government has clarified that children living in nuclear families will be given special priority in this scheme. In such families where only one parent is taking responsibility of the children, the future of the children can be secured with financial assistance.
Joint partnership of state and central government
There is joint participation of the Central and State Governments in the sponsorship scheme. In this, 60 percent amount is borne by the Central Government and 40 percent amount is borne by the State Government. After increasing the amount, additional financial responsibility will fall on the states, but this has been said to be a necessary step in the interest of children.
Thousands of children already joined in Bihar
About 12 thousand children are already associated with this scheme in Bihar. According to the Social Welfare Department, with the increase in the amount, more needy children will be included in the scheme. Payment at the new rate will be started soon after receiving formal instructions from the Centre.
Sponsorship scheme is in force since 2014
The sponsorship scheme is applicable across the country since 2014. It has been made more effective by making changes from time to time. Child protection experts say that it was necessary to increase the amount in view of the current inflation.
Government's claim - children's future will be secure
The Ministry of Social Welfare says that this decision will directly benefit thousands of children. This will not only improve their education and health, but they will also be able to remain connected to the mainstream of society.
