Digital Desk, New Delhi. Bangladesh has made a big deal with China to set up a drone factory. This deal is happening at a time when the lines of tension in the relationship between India and Bangladesh are deepening.

This deal between Bangladesh and China is going to make India uncomfortable. This agreement is not just for purchasing drones, but for transfer of technology to manufacture, assemble and design advanced drones in the future.

This deal has been signed between Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) and China's state-owned company China Electronics Technology Group Corporation (CETC) on a government-to-government (G2G) basis.

Plant will be set up near Siliguri corridor

Under this deal, the factory will be set up in Bogra area of Bangladesh. In this, work will start by the end of 2026. The Bangladesh government says that these drones will mainly be for humanitarian aid, disaster management and military needs.

But India is seeing it as a geopolitical threat. This is because this place is very close to India's sensitive northern border and the Siliguri Corridor (Chicken Neck).

What is this agreement between China and Bangladesh?

Drone deal was signed between Bangladesh and China on 27 January 2026 in Dhaka Cantonment. In this, CETC will transfer the entire technology. Drone Bangladesh will first assemble, then manufacture the drone itself and finally reach the indigenous design.

Initially the factory will make two types of drones. First Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) UAV. These are long-range surveillance and attack and vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) UAVs, which can be quickly deployed to different areas.
