China took a big step against America, slammed these companies for selling arms to Taiwan
New Delhi. In a major blow to America, China banned some of its defense firms. China announced ban on 10 people and 20 American defense companies for selling arms to Taiwan.
China's Foreign Ministry said that following this move, all assets of companies and individuals in China will be frozen and domestic organizations and individuals will be barred from doing business with them.
China took down these American companies
China accused American companies of directly selling arms. It has imposed sanctions against people and companies involved in this activity. China said that the people included in this list, which includes the founder of defense firm Anduril Industries and nine senior executives of banned firms, have also been banned from entering China.
Other companies targeted include Northrop Grumman Systems Corporation and L3Harris Maritime Services. The move follows Washington's announcement last week of an $11.1 billion arms sale to Taiwan, the largest US arms package ever for the island, angering Beijing.
"The Taiwan issue is the core of China's core interests and is the first red line in China-US relations that cannot be crossed," a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said in a statement on Friday.
China considers Taiwan as its part
China considers democratically ruled Taiwan as part of its territory, a claim Taiwan rejects.
The US is obliged by law to provide Taiwan with the means to defend itself, although such arms sales have been a source of persistent tension with China.
