Jagran correspondent, Muzaffarpur. The Municipal Corporation has prepared a budget of Rs 961.24 crore for the financial year 2026-27, which is the biggest budget of the Municipal Corporation till date. This is Rs 342.09 crore more than the budget for the current financial year. The prepared budget will be placed for discussion in the meeting of the Empowered Standing Committee held at the Municipal Corporation office auditorium on 28th February. After getting the green signal from the committee, it will be presented in the Municipal Corporation Board meeting.
In the prepared budget, estimated income is Rs 961.24 crore and estimated expenditure is Rs 901.03 crore. Thus, the Municipal Corporation has prepared a profit budget of Rs 58.21 crore. In the budget, a provision of Rs 1.50 crore has been made for flushing of Fardon drain and Rs 2 crore for connecting it to the sewerage treatment plant.
A provision of Rs 10 crore has been made in the budget for the beautification, maintenance and enhancement of other civic facilities at Muktidham located in Sikandarpur. Special budgetary provision has been made to cordon off the corporation's authorized vacant land, remove encroachments and promote commercial use of city properties. Two crore rupees have been kept for fencing the vacant land.
In the prepared budget, special investment has been made on computers, software and digital monitoring system to digitalize the Municipal Corporation office. A provision of Rs. A provision of Rs 22.50 crore has been made for the reconstruction of the Municipal Corporation Auditorium. Rs 1.5 crore has been earmarked for the construction of petrol pumps, CNG stations and EV charging stations at commercial sites in the Municipal Corporation area.
Rs 5 crore has been kept in the budget for the beautification of major intersections of the city. Parking will be constructed at commercial sites. For this, a provision of Rs 1.5 crore has been made in the budget. Rs 10 crore has also been kept in the budget for the construction of animal crematorium.
Rs 90 lakh has been kept for the control of stray dogs. In the budget, Rs 50 crore has been kept for the payment and differential amount of corporation employees according to the seventh pay scale. Rs 90 lakh has also been kept in the budget for the cremation of unclaimed dead bodies.
