Jagran correspondent, Patna. Keeping the monsoon in mind, the Municipal Corporation has started making a comprehensive strategy to deal with the problem of water logging. In the inter-departmental meeting held under the chairmanship of Municipal Commissioner Yashpal Meena, a detailed discussion was held on maintaining the city's drainage system uninterrupted, establishing coordination between the under-construction projects and ensuring special preparations in sensitive areas.
The Municipal Commissioner gave clear instructions that all the incomplete works should be completed on priority basis before the monsoon. Where it is not possible to complete the work due to lack of time, temporary and permanent alternative drainage arrangements will be ensured. Also instructions were given to strictly follow the safety standards.
In the meeting, a thorough review of the water flow of the main and tributary drains of each zone was done. Emphasis was laid on ensuring that the flow of water reached the outfall uninterrupted. Instructions were given to identify possible water-logging areas and prepare an action plan for additional pumping arrangements, technical improvements and special monitoring.
Instructions were given to strengthen the departmental coordination system to immediately remove any kind of obstruction in drainage, road cutting or construction work. The Municipal Commissioner said that drainage should not be disrupted under any circumstances during monsoon. The Municipal Commissioner himself will inspect the sites of various areas and review the preparations.
He warned that if negligence is found at any level, the officials concerned will be held accountable. Any kind of laxity regarding monsoon will not be acceptable. Officials of Bihar State Bridge Construction Corporation Limited, BUDCO including Metro Rail Project, Road Construction, Building Construction, Water Resources Department and BMSICL participated in the meeting.
The Municipal Corporation is also carrying out cleaning of drains, repair of dilapidated manholes and regular inspection campaign in all the areas, so that the citizens face minimum inconvenience during the rainy season.
