Jagran correspondent, Kannauj. The game of religious conversion is going on rapidly in rural areas. Under Christian missionaries, people are being converted by going from village to village by luring people with basic facilities, public hand pumps and employment to women.
Apart from Karsah and Kakarghata, more than 200 villagers from six villages including Jogi Dera have converted. Every Sunday, these people also offer prayers in the church built in their homes.
On December 7, the police had arrested Pannalal, his brother Vidyasagar and Umashankar who were praying in a church built without permission in Karsah of Thathia police station. These people had started the game of religious conversion with funding from an advocate from Kanpur and David from Jhansi.
Apart from Karsah and Kakarghata, the accused have lured and converted more than 200 villagers in Jogi Dera, Nagariya, Biharipur, Madnapur, Barauli and Rampur Binaura. From 2022, Nava Kanti Society and Nava Kanthi Organization first inspired people in these villages by installing hand pumps near the houses of economically helpless people.
After this, the women were converted by giving them household flour mill and sewing machine. District co-convenor of Bajrang Dal, Annu Baba said that a complaint has been made to the authorities along with the names and addresses of the people who converted and prayed in homes.
Meanwhile, SP Vinod Kumar said that the police is investigating the people involved in religious conversion. Strict action will be taken soon. Advocates from Kanpur and David from Jhansi, who funded the conversion, have been called to record their statements on Monday.
