Citrus Fruits Will Get Promotion Through Malta Mission In Uttarakhand, Draft Of Policy Ready

State Bureau, Dehradun. The government has decided to focus on promoting citrus fruits produced in Uttarakhand. In this context, the Chief Minister has announced Malta Mission in the state.

The Chief Minister's Office has instructed the department to prepare the draft of its policy soon in order to implement this mission on the ground. The department has started exercising in this regard. In the policy, there will be special emphasis on promoting only the traditional species of lemon including Malta, Galgal.

Citrus fruits including Malta are produced on a large scale in the hilly areas of the state, but the local residents are not getting the expected benefits of these. Every year Malta and lemon are wasted on a large scale.

Although the government has declared the minimum support price for C grade Malta and Galgal, there is negligible purchase of these too. Considering all this, the government has now decided to promote Malta and citrus fruits. In this sequence, Malta Festival was recently started. Then the Chief Minister had announced the Malta Mission.

According to Dr. Narendra Yadav, CEO of Horticulture Council, a policy draft is being prepared for the Malta Mission. For this, information has been taken from all areas.

Also, efforts will be made to promote citrus fruits in all the districts. In this, emphasis will be laid on the production of lemon species according to local conditions. He said that soon the draft of the policy will be prepared and sent to the government.
