Junior clerk Ashwani Kumar, resident of Khandrawali village of Shamli, is posted in the office of Chief Veterinary Officer Dr. Arvind Tripathi from 24 July 2024. Satish Valmiki, resident of village Barnawa, says that he had applied for grant in goat rearing scheme five months ago. His application was accepted.

It is alleged that junior clerk Ashwani Kumar had asked for a bribe of Rs 12,000 in exchange for getting subsidy. When he expressed his inability, he started demanding Rs 5,000. He informed the anti-corruption team in Meerut. In the same sequence, at around 12:40 pm on Friday afternoon, he called junior clerk Ashwani Kumar from his mobile to take five thousand rupees. Clerk Ashwani reached the canteen of Vikas Bhawan to collect the money. Anti-corruption team caught Ashwani. The team reached the police station with the accused.

Kotwali in-charge Brijesh Kumar said that Inspector Yogendra Kumar, in-charge of the anti-corruption team, has filed a case against the accused Ashwani Kumar under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The accused will be presented in the court on Saturday.

Corruption exposed once again in the system

The state government is very serious about corruption. Despite this, corruption is not being eliminated from the government system. Corruption in the system has once again been exposed after Ashwani Kumar, a junior clerk of the Animal Husbandry Department, was caught taking a bribe of Rs 5,000. This is not the first case, even before this many employees have been caught taking bribe. Revenue Accountant Vinod Kumar was caught taking bribe of three and a half thousand rupees on 18 October 2024. District Panchayat administrative officer Subhash Tomar was arrested by the anti-corruption team in May 2023 for taking a bribe of Rs 10,000.

Earlier, many employees of the Collectorate, including the then Asalha clerk, had been caught red-handed taking bribes. Very few people are able to muster the courage to arrest the corrupt. Most people either pay bribe or sit at home without mentioning it to anyone. Two policemen had to go to jail for making illegal extortion in the name of checking at Niwada post of UP-Haryana border.
