State Bureau, Jagran, Dehradun. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has sought cooperation from the Center to deal with the challenge of human-wildlife conflict in Uttarakhand. In this episode, he talked to Union Forest Environment and Climate Change Minister Bhupendra Yadav over telephone and discussed this topic. He requested for additional resources and support to the state to overcome this challenge. The Chief Minister informed the Union Minister that effective steps are being taken by the Forest Department and Administration to reduce the problem of human-wildlife conflict. Necessary instructions have been given to control predatory wildlife. For this, the cooperation of the Center is required.

While assuring the state of all possible help from the Centre, Union Minister Yadav stressed on scientific management, modern technology and quick relief arrangements. Expressing gratitude to the Center for the cooperation, the Chief Minister said that the State Government is working by maintaining a balance between human security and wildlife conservation. Concrete policy and regional solution is needed to stop the conflict: Trivendra. In the meeting of the Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Forest Environment and Climate Change held in Delhi last day under the chairmanship of Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav, committee member and Haridwar MP Trivendra Singh Rawat raised the issue of human-wildlife conflict in the Himalayan regions including Uttarakhand. According to MP Trivendra, he said that the movement of wildlife towards populated areas is a matter of concern.

He stressed on identifying the root causes of conflict by conducting scientific survey of sensitive areas, so that a permanent and practical solution to the problem can be ensured. He also expressed concern over the incidents of death of elephants being hit by trains in Haridwar area. To overcome this, emphasis was laid on strengthening railway-forest coordination, warning system, speed control and structural measures. While discussing the issue related to elephant corridor in Lachhiwala, he pointed out the need for effective measures for safe movement of wildlife.
