Jagran correspondent, Ludhiana. A CNG truck parked on the roadside suddenly caught fire on Sunday morning in Ghati locality falling in Sunder Nagar. Within no time, the fire took a huge form and a huge explosion occurred when the gas cylinder installed in the truck burst.

People living nearby got scared and came out of their homes. People immediately informed the fire brigade department. Prakash, a resident of the locality, told that he had gone out for a morning walk with his family. Then he saw flames rising from the truck. The driver of the truck got out of the vehicle in time, due to which a major accident was averted, but the truck got completely burnt in the fire.

The truck was filled with foam, which is used in making mattresses. The fire spread rapidly because the foam was flammable. The cause of the fire is not known at present.

Fire Station Sunder Nagar employee Ravinderjit said that information about fire in the truck was received at around 6:14 am on Sunday morning. A fire brigade vehicle was immediately sent to the spot. Seeing the fire increasing, another fire engine was also called. After hard work the fire was brought under control.

People said – electric wires are hanging in the area

Local people have accused the administration of negligence. He says that the electric wires are hanging very low in the area and heavy commercial vehicles come here daily. Despite repeated complaints, no concrete action was taken. Due to the fire, the wires also got burnt and the electricity in the area remained disrupted.
