Jagran correspondent, Dehradun. Congress's fierce stance was seen on the streets of Dehradun today against the deteriorating law and order situation in the state, increasing crime against women, corruption, unemployment, inflation and attacks by wild animals.

A crowd of thousands of workers gathered at the parade ground and marched to Lok Bhawan. Despite heavy police barricades in Hathibarkala, the workers tried to move forward.

Due to which there was a heated scuffle and altercation between the police and the Congressmen. To control the situation, the police detained more than 300 activists, who were later taken to the police line and released.

Congress workers moving towards Lok Bhavan were stopped at Hathibarkala. During this time many workers were seen trying to cross the barricades. The police used force to stop them, due to which the atmosphere became tense for some time.

Many workers sat on strike on the road and raised slogans against the government. Many workers fell and got injured while trying to climb the barricades.

State Congress Committee President Ganesh Godiyal and State Election Campaign Committee President Pritam Singh described this program as historic and said that the participation of thousands of workers from every corner of the state has given a strong message against the anti-people policies of the BJP government.

Ganesh Godiyal said that Congress will benefit from the Lok Bhavan siege in the upcoming 2027 assembly elections. He alleged that the fear of law has ended in the state and the common people are in panic due to murders in broad daylight.

Many senior leaders including Harak Singh Rawat, Jyoti Rautela were present in the demonstration. The leaders gave a clear warning that if crimes are not controlled and law and order is not brought back on track, then Congress will launch a fierce agitation.

The meeting organized at the parade ground was conducted by former Congress Metropolitan President Lalchand Sharma. From Hathibarkala, the police detained Congress's Uttarakhand in-charge Kumari Shailaja and all the big leaders in a police van and took them to the police line and released them.

Congress national coordinator Gurdeep Singh Sappal, Uttarakhand co-in-charge Surendra Sharma and Manoj Yadav, who participated in the program, also congratulated all the leaders of the state, calling the event a success.

Former Delhi MP Alka Lamba inspired Uttarakhand Congress to make full efforts for the upcoming assembly elections. State President Godiyal also gave credit to MLA Pritam Singh for the huge rally.

Congressmen angry over removal of posters and banners from the city

Congress leaders alleged that the publicity material put up in the city before the Lok Bhavan march was removed by the Municipal Corporation employees, which is an action taken under pressure from the government. Chakrata MLA Pritam Singh condemned it, calling it a violation of democratic rights. Congress spokesperson Garima Dasauni alleged that the state government is scared of public questions. An attempt was made to suppress the voice of the opposition by removing banners and posters even before the program. Metropolitan President of Congress Business Cell, Sunil Kumar Banga alleged that before the gherao program, the party flex installed in Ghantaghar, Rajpur Road and Lok Bhawan area was removed by the team of Dehradun Municipal Corporation.
