Convenience Becomes Inconvenience, Electricity Bill Is Not Coming Out Every Month From Smart Meter; Headache For Consumers

Samvad Sutra, Ambedkar Nagar. Madhyanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam's smart meter facility is becoming more of an inconvenience than a convenience. To prevent electricity theft, the corporation is installing smart meters at consumers' homes. But these have become a headache for consumers.

By running a campaign in homes, smart meters are being installed in place of old electricity meters. While the electricity bill was easily paid every month in a normal meter, after the installation of a smart meter, the online bill is not coming regularly due to which the consumers are troubled.

Can't find concrete answer

Smart meters have been installed in 38 thousand houses and establishments of cities and markets and government offices belonging to Akbarpur, Jalalpur, Tanda, Alapur divisions. 22 thousand rupees have been prepaid in this. Even after December and January days of four thousand consumers have not received their online electricity bill for the month of February. When asked in this regard, no concrete answer is available.

In such a situation, these consumers are not able to understand where to lodge their complaint or how to pay their electricity bill. Complaints related to electricity bill have also been registered on the helpline number 1912 of Madhyanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam in the last two months. 92 complaints have been registered.

Electricity bills of consumers will be available online. Due to increasing bill burden every month, troubled consumers are making rounds of the department several times. Due to this, while the burden on consumers is increasing due to collecting bills for several months, the revenue of the department is also affected.

Umesh Tiwari, Ankit Sharma of Shahjanpur told that electricity bill is not coming for two months. This problem is coming after installation of smart meter in the house, now suddenly there will be a problem if there is a high electricity bill, a complaint was lodged but the problem was not resolved.

There is a problem in feeding the electricity bill into the smart meter from the headquarters level. By solving the problem soon, consumers will start getting regular smart meter electricity bills.
