Jagran correspondent, Varanasi. The more deeply the police investigate into cough syrup smuggling worth Rs. 2000 crores, the more they are getting entangled in it. Most of the trucks whose numbers have been given in the e-way bill made for the transportation of lakhs of vials of cough syrup sent to Varanasi from Shelly Traders of Ranchi, have not come to Varanasi.

When a dozen truck drivers agreed, they told that they had gone to Varanasi after loading the utensils. After finding irregularities in 27 e-way bills, the police has started a fresh investigation. Because the roots of cough smuggling are going deeper than the police had estimated. Businessmen of Banaras went two steps further. A case has been registered against 38 pharmaceutical firms in the Kotwali police station. Police investigation revealed that the accused pharmaceutical firms had sent cough syrups to seven further businessmen. The vehicles from whose numbers e-way bills were made to send goods to them, were found to be e-rickshaws and bikes during investigation. After this truth comes to light, the arrest of seven more businessmen is considered certain. There will be a reward of Rs 50-50 thousand for the arrest of Shubham and Mahesh. Police will soon announce a reward of Rs 50-50 thousand for the arrest of Shubham Jaiswal, the alleged kingpin of cough syrup smuggling, and Mahesh, who have been accused by the Rohaniya police. A week ago, the police had announced a reward of Rs 25,000 each against both the accused. A proposal to increase the reward amount has been sent to Additional Police Commissioner Rajesh Kumar Singh.

Cough syrup case: Saurav and Shiva did not appear in court, date fixed for December 22

Saurabh Tyagi and Shivakant alias Shiva of Ghaziabad, accused in the case of five hundred boxes of cough syrup recovered from the warehouse under the gym in Bhadwar, Rohaniya on November 28, could not be produced in the Varanasi court on Tuesday. The court had directed Ghaziabad Police to present both of them in the court on 16 December. Varanasi Commissionerate Police remained present in the court the whole day on Tuesday, seeking relief for both the accused.

Therefore, with both of them appearing in the court, the police will be able to interrogate them before the court. Varanasi Commissionerate Police had got Warrant B made from the court on December 8 after finding the involvement of Saurabh and Shivakant in the investigation of cough syrup recovered in Rohania.

The investigation is being done in depth. One by one fact is being found out. The police will not harass innocent drug dealers, but no one involved in the crime will be able to escape. Police investigation has reached advanced stage.
