Counting Of Tigers Started In Bahraich, 550 Cameras Will Be Installed In Katarnia Forest.

Jagran correspondent, Bahraich. Cameras will be installed at 550 places in Katarniaghat Wildlife Division to count tigers. WWF (World Nature Fund) and forest department staff are marking places to install cameras. One month after the cameras are installed, the chips of these cameras will be removed and sent to the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun for counting.

Katarniaghat Wildlife Division is spread over 551 square kilometers. It is divided into seven ranges. Tigers and leopards roam in the forests of these ranges. These wild animals are counted every four years. On the instructions of the Forest Ministry, the process of counting tigers has started in Katarniaghat.

Places are being marked in the forest to install cameras. 550 cameras will be installed on the ground and trees of Katarniaghat forest. DFO Apoorva Dixit said that the movement of tigers will be captured in cameras for a month. After this, the chips of the cameras will be preserved and sent to Wildlife Institute, Dehradun for counting.

He told that the tiger will be identified by different stripes. At present 59 tigers are roaming in the forest. This was announced by the Forest Minister in the year 2022. DFO said that along with the employees, wetland workers have also been deployed. The work of installing cameras at all the identified locations will be completed within a week. This will be monitored by the Forest Department.

Other wild animals will be counted along with leopards

DFO said that along with the tiger, the movement of leopard and other wild animals will also be captured in the camera. After counting the tigers, information about the number of these creatures will be available.
